Moisture Content
This is not a stand-alone test we provide, however, it is part of a wide range of our materials testing services.
There are many variations and methods for carrying out moisture content testing. Moisture content is a very simple test and quite commonly carried out within the construction industry. Moisture content checks are commonly checked in the following fields and/or applications:
- concrete batching plants
- material stockpiles
- material classification
- volumetric mixer truck calibration
- particle size distribution
- mix design (consultancy)
- trial mixes
The test weighing and drying the aggregate and determining the moisture held in the material. This test is important for concrete in particular for water going into the mix as this can have an effect if the moisture is not known.
This test is carried out in accordance with British Standard BS EN 1097-5. This test is often used for type testing and in disputes for the determination of water content. This is a key test before trial mixing and general concrete mixing.
